JonBenet Ramsey’s brother sues for £600m after TV show accused him of killing her

The brother of murdered beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey is suing CBS for £613 million after a TV series suggested he killed her.

Burke Ramsey said the network, its production company and the experts conspired to defame him for publicity and profit.

The 29-year-old added his reputation had been destroyed after ‘The Case of JonBenet Ramsey’ show concluded he killed his six-year-old sister in 1996.

The program, which aired in September, coincided with the 20th anniversary of her being found dead in the basement of her family’s home in Boulder, Colorado.

A prosecutor cleared her parents and brother in 2008 based on DNA evidence.

But the district attorney currently overseeing the case has said it was premature to exonerate the Ramseys and ordered additional tests using new DNA testing technology that authorities hope will further the investigation.

Mr Ramsey previously sued a forensic pathologist featured on the show who said he bludgeoned his sister to death.

The same pathologist is named in the latest $750m civil action that was filed on Wednesday.

‘The accusation that Burke Ramsey killed his sister was based on a compilation of lies, half-truths, manufactured information, and the intentional omission and avoidance of truthful information about the murder of JonBenét Ramsey,’ the lawsuit says.

Zach Galifianakis My Baby's Got the Kardashian Touch From the Same OB/GYN!

Zach Galifianakis' newest baby boy will be forever tied at the belly button to the Kardashians ... since his pops used Kim, Kourtney and Kris' same OB/GYN.

Zach's son, Rufus Emmanuel Lundberg, was delivered by none other than Dr. Paul Crane, who also delivered all the Kardashian babies as of late ... including Dream.

According to the birth certificate -- obtained by TMZ -- Rufus was born on Nov. 7 this year at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to his parents Zach and Quinn Lundberg.

It's strange ... Zach and Quinn have been married since 2012, but Rufus bears his mother's surname for some reason. Maybe Galifianakis was too much of a mouthful -- heck, maybe Kardashian would be more appropriate.

Airbus delivers first A380 to Emirates

Airbus said Wednesday it has delivered the first A380 superjumbo to Dubai’s Emirates airline, equipped with a Rolls Royce-made engine.

“The first A380 with a Rolls Royce engine has been delivered to Emirates Airline,” a spokesman for the aerospace giant said.

In April 2015, Airbus selected Rolls Royce for the lucrative deal to provide the engines for 50 of its A380s that was worth a record at the time of $9.2 billion (8.8 billion euros).

The first delivery came a day after Airbus said it was postponing for a year the planned delivery of 12 A380 jets.

The delay was linked to the airline’s wish to purchase the finest Rolls Royce engines, an informed source said.

“We continue to work closely with Airbus and Emirates Airline to satisfy their requests,” a Rolls Royce spokesman told AFP on Wednesday.

Emirates, the biggest client for superjumbos, took delivery of its A380 in November and has ordered 142 in total.

A380s with the Rolls Royce motor are already being operated by other airlines such as Qantas and Singapore Airlines.

Fan writes open letter to Olamide: OLIC3 was a waste of time and you owe us an apology

Twitter user @Princess_Jacki_  is an Olamide fan who was dissatisfied with the OLIC3 event that she attended and wrote a few words about it. We have reproduced the entire text below.

‘Yesterday was OLIC, I never thought I’d say this, but it was zero. Security was zero; organization was zero as well.

Firstly, porous security. Anyone, I mean anyone, could literally walk through the gates of Eko hotel.  I swear, I didn’t sight one metal detector. People walked in and out as they liked.

I’m sure every Nigerian right now is 150% aware of terrorist attacks and the need for security to be tops at all times especially at social gatherings. Some people said there were dogs. Excuse you, someone could walk in and just start shooting and these people won’t have cared if they died!

Security is major key. Anything could’ve happened TBH.

Then to the ‘disorganization’.  A lot of people didn’t have tickets; it was no one’s fault. A lot of people ended up getting regular tickets for 15k or more, and VIP for about 30k or 40k – also no one’s fault.

After getting tickets the next thing is to queue up to get tags to get in, and trust me the queue was long ASF. After a while, at about 10 or 11 p.m, they said tags were finished but we needed to hold on a little because they went to get more.

From 11 p.m to 2 a.m a lot of people were outside waiting for tags. These people had tickets but were deprived of what they had paid for, because of the inability for the organizers of OLIC to be effective. It’s just like going to the cinema and more tickets are sold than the number of seats. How dumb can that be? What stopped them from producing tags equivalent to the number of tickets they sold?

Eventually people got really angry. A concert slated for 7 p.m and they were left out till 2 a.m! The guys at the gate, bouncers or whoever, weren’t even making situations better. They were so rude, saying stuff like they don’t know why we were still waiting that the tags were finished, and there’s no space in the hall anymore. There were no fights but they released tear gas on us and used tasers on a few people.

No like FML despite this economic shit going on. People went out of their way to be there for the concert and this is what they get??? You think it’s so easy to hustle up 5k, 10k, 20k etc? Or you think people don’t have better stuff doing with their money than watching a bunch of musicians perform?  Things got emotional ASF yoooo – people were crying. That’s how deep it was.

This isn’t for Olamide alone. All artistes need to get their shit together and learn to treat your fans with more respect and love, because without us you’re nothing.

I’m the wildest Olamide fan, but even if they have 10 OLICs after this, I don’t think I’d want to be there. Because it looks like he’s started doing stuff for the rich lads alone, and we’re sorry we can’t afford the gold, silver and platinum.

If you were there for this event and you had fun to its peak –  congratulations. But I didn’t.

Olamide, I think you owe a lot of fans an apology, because a lot of people wasted their money and time.
God bless.

Are Drake and Jennifer Lopez dating?

Recently, Drake and Jennifer Lopez‘s relationship rumours have been flying about, but no one could confirm if they were true.

However, we do not need any confirmation as both of them have posted an Instagram picture on their official pages respectively, showing them snuggling together, looking like a couple newly smitten with each other.

Facebook triggers false bomb scare in Bangkok

Facebook sparked fear — and anger — among Thailand’s social media users after its Safety Check feature triggered a false bomb alert in Bangkok.

The check-in feature allows users to signal to friends that they are safe after an event in their area such as a terror attack or natural disaster.

But it appeared to misfire late Tuesday, creating an alert called “The Explosion in Bangkok” that said a blast in the capital had been confirmed by “multiple sources”.

The page gave no other details about the incident but linked to articles about a bombing in Bangkok in August 2015 which killed 20 people.

After numerous city residents marked themselves as safe, the alert was deactivated around an hour later at 10pm, leaving netizens relieved but also frustrated over the false alarm.

“Facebook issued false news that has destroyed Thailand’s image,” wrote Thai user Prasit Silhanisong.

“It’s close to the New Year and now tourists might not come,” he added, calling on the social media giant to apologise.

Facebook swiftly defended the algorithm, saying the alert was activated by reports of small explosives that a protester had thrown near Government House earlier on Tuesday.

The incident, which caused no injuries or damage, was covered in the local press.

“Safety Check was activated yesterday in Thailand following an explosion,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement to AFP, adding that a “trusted third party” had confirmed the incident.

It is not the first time the check-in feature has caused controversy.

In March the company apologised after a bug sent a Safety Check notification to users around the world following a deadly suicide bombing in Pakistan.

The social network also faced criticism in November 2015 for selectively activating the feature after attacks in Paris but not in Beirut.

Wizkid, other artistes made waves in 2016

Wizkid
Chux Ohai
The going was not all that smooth for many Nigerian music artistes who laboured against the odds to grab a piece of the market in 2016. While some fared well in the end, others managed to keep their careers and heads barely above water.

Only the most creative and focused, such as Wizkid, Falz the Bad Guy, Yemi Alade and Yemi Alade, to mention a few, were able to shine like a thousand stars.

Wizkid
Three years after pulling out of Banky W’s EME Records, Wizkid’s career has steadily been on the rise and the year under review has been an excellent one for him.

The singer’s winning streak started with the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards in South Africa, where he emerged winner in the Artiste of the Year, Best Male Act and Best Collaboration out of Africa categories, respectively.

Then on November 6 he was named Best African Act and Worldwide Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Interestingly on the same night, the talented singer emerged as Artiste of Year at the All Africa Music Awards held in Lagos.

In addition to winning  the Best African Act award at the 2016 MOBO awards in London, Wizkid  received his first-ever Grammy Awards nomination for featuring in American pop star, Drake’s hit song titled ‘One Dance’.

Only a few weeks ago, he was named Artist of the Year at the Headies Awards. The singer, who has been described as one of Africa’s best artists, also collaborated with the likes of Chris Brown , Trey Songz, French Montana, Justine Skye, DJ Maphorisa and few others. The year under review, no doubt, has been quite rewarding for him.

Falz the Bad Guy

Trained as lawyer, Falz the Bad Guy (real name is Folarin Falana) has also had an exciting and rewarding year as an artiste. He emerged the winner in the Viewer’s Choice Best New International Act category at the  2016 BET Awards in the United States of America. Also, the rapper won two trophies, namely the Best Afro Hiphop Video and Best Music Video, with ‘Karashika’ at the 9th Nigeria Music Video Awards, among other laurels.

Yemi Alade
Hardworking and sensational singer, Yemi Alade, proved to her critics that her achievement at last year’s edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards was not flash in the pan when she repeated the feat in 2016 in South Africa.

The singer, who came into the limelight after worming into the hearts of music fans in the continent with her 2013 single titled ‘Johnny’, was named Best Female Act for the second time running. She beat fellow Nigerian act, Tiwa Savage, Josey of Ivory Coast, Mz Vee of Ghana and Tanzanian singer, Vanessa Mdee to win the award.

Kiss Daniel
Two years after he debuted with the hit single, Woju, Kiss Daniel (real name Daniel Anidugbe) finally made it to the music hall of fame by winning three laurels at the 2016 Headies Awards.

The artiste has been described as the biggest winner of the night at the event, clinching the Best R&B/Pop Album, Hip Hop World Revelation and Album of the Year awards, with his 20-track New Era album, which had other hit songs, such as Mama, Jombo.

Watch out for me — Winner of Next Titan

Marshal-Idio
Winner of the third edition of The Next Titan Season 3, Marvis Marshal-Idio, has said that she is, more than ever, ready to make an impact in the business world. The graduate of architecture from the University of Uyo, who also holds a second degree in Interior Designs from the Florence Designs Academy in Italy, beat three other finalists during the grand finale of pitching done in Lagos to win the contest.

For this feat, the star prizes – N5m provided by star sponsor, Heritage Bank and a Ford car from another sponsor,  Coscharis – will go to her.

Speaking after the event, Marshal-Idilo said, “I now have what I need, and the sky is my limit with new energy, new strength, and new focus. Just watch out.”

Although the other finalists, Ronald Ajiboye,Victoria Mamza and Sunday Ewolabi paraded some ideas that cut across different sectors, her idea, which dazzled the Next Titan judges, is built on creativity. She wants to turn trash into beautiful furniture.

The judges, who are seasoned entrepreneurs, are Mr. Kyari Bukar, Mr. Tonye Cole,  Mr. Chris Parkes and Mrs. Lilian Olubi.

According to the organisers, Bravopoints International formerly Ficomms International Ltd, the Season 3 received over 15,000 entries from young and aspiring entrepreneurs from different parts of the country.

The opening ceremony/premiere evening of the show witnessed a large turnout of people at the Oriental Hotel, as everyone was eager to see the unveiling of the qualified 16 contestants who had made it into the House to compete for the 10 weeks competition reality show for the grand prize of N5m and a brand new car.

The Executive Producer of The Next Titan, Mr. Mide Kunle-Akinlaja; and officials of the sponsors, including Mrs. Orhi Ogba of Heritage Bank, expressed delight at the success of the project which, they said, aimed to strengthen the entrepreneurial spirits of young Nigerians.

How Kiss Daniels ruled the 2016 Headies

He was the biggest winner of the night, going away with three awards.

He might get a bad rap for not being sure what his real age was or be accused of being a little cocky, but there’s no denying that Kiss Daniel does know how to make good music.

And he was the biggest winner of the night at the 2016 Headies, carting away three plaques in the Best R&B/Pop album, Hip Hop World Revelation and Album of the Year categories.

The G-Worldwide signee was initially absent when the first category was announced and his label mate Sugarboy had to pick it up on his behalf.

It seemed as though it would be same thing when his Hip Hop World Revelation award was called but he walked in on stage at the last minute. He would go on to win a third, a feat that was unrepeated on the night.

In the short while that Kiss Daniel has been an artiste, his career has enjoyed unprecedented growth.

His official debut was in 2014 and the follow up track, ‘Woju’ catapulted him into the mainstream spotlight.

He released his album, New Era in 2016 and with songs like ‘Mama’, ‘Jombo’ and ‘Sin City’ featured on the 20-track album, it was enough to allow him go on a world tour and, as the Headies triumph will prove, place him heads and shoulders above his peers this year.

Only a year ago at the 2015 edition of The Headies, Kiss Daniel was nominated in the Next Rated category and lost out to Reekado Banks. What a difference those 12 months make: this year he’s the winner with the most awards.

His big win on the biggest awards stage is more impressive when one considers the acts he had to fight off for each of the Headies plaques he went home with: Wande Coal, Darey Art Alade, Brymo, Seyi Shay, Lil Kesh, Runtown and Falz.

None of the acts threw up a tantrum like Olamide did last year when his act Lil Kesh didn’t win – perhaps proof of Kiss Daniels’ ascendancy to the pinnacle of pop success.

Long may it continue.

NET Exclusive: Why Tekno’s 2016 Headies ‘Next Rated’ nomination was withdrawn

Nigerian pop star Tekno is no longer in contention for the Headies Award.

According to reliable information obtained by Thenetng, the jury took the decision to withdraw his nomination because he failed to participate in all of the required activities by organisers leading up to the event.

Official e-mails between the organisers and the singer’s reps confirm all nominees for the category were required to take part in promotional activities including photoshoots, interviews and more.

An insider says all other nominees were available for all the activities.

‘We reached out to them repeatedly, using personal contacts and official channels. They promised he’ll come but he did not. They were clearly aware of the consequences,’ a Headies insider told us today.

READ: As expected: Tekno just rejected The Headies ‘Next Rated’ nomination

The ‘Pana’ singer’s ONLY nomination for the 11th edition of the award ceremony was for the ‘Next Rated’ award, along with YCee, Aramide, Humblesmith, and Mr. Eazi.

Thenetng obtained a copy of a letter sent to him by the Headies secretariat, and signed by executive producer Ayo Animashaun, informing of his disqualification.

‘Tekno has unfortunately not made himself available for any of the mandatory activities, hence the committee’s decision to effectively withdraw his nomination for this year.’

We could not immediately confirm if the letter got a response from his team.

It was the only category the 24-year-old singer was nominated in. He missed out on major nominations including ‘Artiste of the Year’, which was the award he was hoping to be nominated for.

Shortly after the nominees were announced, Tekno expressed his dissatisfaction through an Instagram post that was later taken down: ‘Next rated after how many years! Let’s be honest pls’.

Mike Posner I May Live Modestly But I Can Sell My Crib for a Mil

Mike Posner's ditching his L.A. bachelor pad, and based on the asking price the rest of the country is saying, WTF?!!

The "I Took a Pill In Ibiza" crooner's home is in escrow for around the $1.375 million asking price. Posner initially put the 4 bedroom, 3 bath place on the market in September for $1.425 mil.

There's a huge private deck connecting the main house with the back guest house, where we think Posner wrote some of his songs.

He's been living there since 2013, when he bought it for a little over a million bucks, so he'll walk away with a nice profit.

Nikki Benz Brazzers Fires Producer For Alleged Brutal Assault During Sex Scene

A porn studio fired a longtime producer after its star actress, Nikki Benz, accused him of stomping on her head and choking her out during a shoot ... but the guy's calling BS.

Brazzers -- a porn production company -- tells TMZ ... they've officially cut ties with Tony T., who allegedly went too far during a recent sex scene he directed with Nikki.

Nikki claims Tony choked her and stomped on her head in a fit of rage. It's unclear what allegedly set Tony off, but Nikki claims he attacked her during one of her sex scenes. It appears her claim is that she did something on camera he didn't like.

Apparently, the sex scene was completed but Brazzers tells us it will not release it, saying the video "stands in direct contrast with our mandate to ensure that performers' consent, boundaries and limits are respected."

As for Tony, his rep tells us he denies the allegations and laments the actions taken by Brazzers. We're told he's confident his name will be cleared.

Meek Mill Scores $200k for Miami NYE Party

Meek Mill's about to haul it in for headlining a New Year's Eve party in Miami ... and the amount of 0s on his paycheck is right up there with some of rap's biggest acts.

Sources close to Meek tell us ... he's getting $200k to perform at Dream Nightclub in South Beach, plus $20k to partially cover expenses. Not too shabby for a guy whose career seems to be on a never-ending roller coaster.

We're told Meek will also be lubricated with spirits -- 10 bottles of Ace of Spades, 5 bottles of Moet Nectar Rosé and some Hennessy and tequila to boot.

Varsity Lifestyle Group is throwing the bash, and tickets to ring in the new year with the rapper are $60 for chicks, $109 for dudes, with VIP packages ranging from around $4k to $10k. It's scheduled to rage 'til 5 AM.

President Obama It's Not the Oval Office ... A Garage Will Do

1215_obama_house_construction_launch_2President Obama's rental pad is getting fitted for massive upgrades.

Obama's post-presidential crib in D.C. is getting what appears to be an enhanced security system. According to construction permits, obtained by TMZ, the work includes installation of fencing, utilities and a cat walk over an existing staircase.

Someone on the construction team told us they're upgrading the electrical system in the house to support the specific needs of the soon-to-be former first family.

And get this ... looks like the Prez might be working out of the garage. According to the permit, the contractor will "temporarily convert one garage stall into an office with new bathroom." That would be an astonishing step down from the Oval Office.

The $6 million property will be guarded by Secret Service, but it's interesting that the house is right on the street.

AMVCA: 3 gbosa for the organisers

A huge joke disrupted the higgledy-piggledy of the African film-making scene on Wednesday night.

Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) released its nominees for the upcoming fifth edition of the annual award ceremony.

With 2016 turning out to be a good year for Nollywood, not only in terms of quality of films made but also global recognition and cinema revenue, many people anticipated the announcement.

READ: How celebs reacted to their 2017 AMVCA nominations

However, by 11 p.m. when the announcement was done and the full list of nominees available, it was immediately evident that AMVCA had come from nowhere to win joke of the year. Not even Uncle Lai and his MOPICON cousins come close.

Last year, it was the highly questionable decision to award Genevieve Nnaji’s production, Road to Yesterday the award for Best West African Movie while Dry, a brilliant flick by Stephanie Linus (a film from West Africa) won Best Overall Film.

No problems there you say? Think about that for a second. This year, their joke has hit the ground running.

READ: ‘Why Dry won Best Movie in Africa’ – AMVCA organisers

They came up with the amazing idea of naming AY Makun among the Best Writer nominees for a film whose biggest flaw was its storyline, A Trip to Jamaica. Apart from being a textbook example of how not to make a great film, A Trip to Jamaica offers little else.

It destroyed previous box office records, yes. But what do you expect of Nigerians who think that Jenifa’s Diary is the next best thing after garri Ìjẹ̀bú?

As if that prank wasn’t startling enough, these AMVCA folks named it among the contenders for West African Film of the Year. Someone call my mum!

I would have personally trekked to their office and demanded a whiff of what they have been smoking if they had left out Akin Omotosho for his writing genius in Vaya. Vaya didn’t even make the cut for best overall movie.

What a time to be alive!

#AMVCA2017: Whatever happened to ‘The Arbitration’ and Niyi Akinmolayan?

Then The Arbitration‘s snub was so confusing, even an arbitration panel would have been left helpless. That film is arguably in the top three films made this year in Nigeria.

How it misses out on both the Best West African Film and Best Overall Film categories is a wawu . Niyi Akinmolayan wasn’t even considered in the Best Director category while Robert Peters and Curtis Graham got nods for A Trip to Jamaica and Oloibiri respectively.

Good one.

You people brought out your joke in time to win the joke of the year award.

Three gbosa for you!
