Someone has just won £337m in the lottery

Someone woke up £337 million richer today after scooping the Powerball jackpot.

The lucky contestant bought the ticket in Tennessee, United States, but has yet to claim the money.

It probably wasn’t you because the odds were 1 in 292 million, but if you happened to get a ticket the winning numbers were 17, 19, 21, 37, 44, with the Powerball 16.

The winner can either choose to be paid a lump sum of $254.7m (£204m) but if they’re more patient they can claim the full $421m (£337m) over 30 years.

The prize fund had been growing since September 17, with a late flurry of ticket purchases pushing the amount up higher.

The biggest ever US lottery win was $1.6 billion (£1.2b) that was split between three winning tickets in January.
